Recently I had been feeling a little unfit; it was not a major problem, just the odd bit of excess wheelsucking in windy conditions. Today was different; every time the road went upwards, I went backwards. I had to cut the ride short at Clay Cross, while the rest of the group went on to Hardwick, I went back home through Pilsley.
The journey home was fine on my own, and I regretted leaving the group. When I looked back at the ride on Strava, the max HR was 213; normal max HR for me is 183, based on a ramp test.
